Look for Quality and Maturity

Compost for healthy plantings

The right compost boosts plant health

Quality, mature compost is great for your garden, serving as a tremendous natural soil conditioner. But be careful to know your compost’s source – using immature compost has been shown to cause nitrogen deficiency and can adversely impact plant growth. At GreenCycle, we pride ourselves in our compost production systems. We sell only the most mature compost to help improve soil structure and water holding capacity, buffer pH, and supply numerous essential macro and micro nutrients for your soil.

Ground up leaves are not finished compost and can even work against your plantings. At GreenCycle we extensively manage the composting process to produce a superior, mature product. Leaves that are collected in the fall are placed into long windrows. We turn the windrows with a specialized machine which introduces oxygen into the piles and results in a homogenous finished product. We then stockpile the material where it further cures. Then it is screened to further enhance the consistency. The entire cycle takes over a year.

Windrow Turning

Our windrow turning equipment introduces oxygen and turns the compost.

We test our material (copies of the test results are available) to ensure its Carbon:Nitrogen ratio is under 20. We take pride in the quality of our compost and the many gardens it has improved. So choosing GreenCycle’s compost assures you that your compost is mature, of great quality, and will improve your soil’s fertility. Come pay us a visit to check out the area’s best selection of mulches and soils.
